Friday Rant : Noel Gallacher
I nearly choked on my breakfast this morning when I read this rather criminal opinon from Oasis' Noel Gallacher. Bear in mind that, this is a guy whose career has consited of being a roadie for The Inspiral Carpets and ripping of The Beatles back catalogue.
On Radiohead..
"Thom Yorke sat a piano singing, 'This is fucked up' for half-an-hour. We all know that Mr Yorke.
"Who wants to sing the news? No matter how much you sit there twiddling, going, 'We're all doomed,' at the end of the day people will always want to hear you play 'Creep'. Get over it."
On U2...
"Play 'One', shut the fuck up about Africa"
Should we expect anymore from a man who likes to sing about cigarettes & alcohol (yes we know they are bad for you), living forever and champagne supernova's (what is that supposed to mean anyway)?.
Do us a favour Mr Gallacher, go back to your palace, strum your 3 chords, write a big hit about lager or packets of crisps, bother the charts for a month or so. But, please leave the important issues to the musicians with integrity and intelligence.

One of the most ridiculous things ive ever read on the internet.
Everyone's entitled to give an opinion on other bands, Noel has uptmost respect for Radiohead and U2 but that doesnt mean he cannot critisize their work.
And 'bother the charts for a month or so'
How bout the lyrics and music noel writes has consumed the charts for the past decade, name me a band (bar Radiohead which bought out their better music after oasis had raised the bar) that were producing music like oasis in the 90's?!?!?

I don't quite understand your last point (Don't think it is worded properly).
To be honest, I lost interest in Oasis around the time the second album came out. That whole Britpop scene bored me pretty quickly and I started getting into more experimental fields.
In regards to this being the most ridiculous thing you've read on the internet. You saying Noel has uptmost respect for Radiohead when he is quoted as saying 'at the end of the day people will always want to hear you play Creep' is pretty ridiculous too.
