Locum76 (Herb Recordings) -Organically Farmed Scottish Electronica

Locum76's history can be traced back to the beginnings of Edinburgh's electro scene. Inlfuences in 70's funk (Funkadelic, Parliament) and early hip-hop are morphed into a contemporary electronica shape, to give Locum76's homegrown, organically farmed Scottish sound.

Previous work has encompassed drum n' bass, acid house, techno and garage music but on his "I Belong On Terra Firma" ep (out on Herb Recordings) influences from Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada can be heard.

In fact, on the mp3 "My Guv" (from "... Terra Firma") those spliced and cut-up vocal samples Boards of Canada are famous for, can be heard throughout. This chillout track would slide effortlessly into any Cafe Del Mar compilation.

Having been "bleeping, crunching and glitching with his toys ever since the late 90's", Locum76 has a superb handle on the dynamics involved with this slice of laid back electronica. Order the ep here.
