Zizou : The Special One

The FIFA World Cup 2006 has thrown up some great matches that will live long in the memory (Argentina Vs Mexico anyone). There have been some great performances Maxi Rodriguez, Esteben Cambiasso and Juan Roman Riquelme of Argentina, Gianluca Zambrotta and Fabio
Cannavaro for the clinical Italians and of course the host nations Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose.

However, last night during the France Vs Brazil clash, one man stood head and shoulders above the rest. No it wasn't the great Ronaldinho, it was the supposed "past it" Zinedine Zidane. Much has been made of his age (only 34!!) and his impending retirement. Last night he was truly inspirational and he has grabbed a lackluster France by the collar and is guiding them to the final.

They must be the favourites for the trophy now, Gallas and Thuram are so strong at the back and with the likes of Henry and Trezeguet up front, goals are not a problem. Zidane has also brought the best out of the young starlet Frank Ribery. Many doubted Ribery's international credentials early in the tournament. There is now a lot of humble pie being eaten.

I'm going for France to beat the hosts Germany in the final, and Zizou to be player of the tournament. A fitting end to one of the greatest players the world has ever seen.
